For one, they’re essential for licensing purposes. This is also where we go into the interesting part of Autodesk licensing. The good news is that Autodesk even tells you what is your license status. This is in the license manager. You can find this icon in the upper right corner.
The bad news is that the license manager is a bit of a pain to get access to, but it will help you to be more informed. You can also learn more about licensing in the official Autodesk documentation.
When licensing, there are two license categories. Each one allows you to use the software for a given period of time, and there are two different prices for each license. The price for a perpetual license is significantly higher, and therefore, they’re very expensive. The second category is a user license, and that is the one that we will be interested in.
Product Keys for Autodesk Products
The product keys for Autodesk 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 products are listed here:
Keynote for Mac: This is the case for the Mac version of Keynote. It’s not a stand-alone product, and it is rather bundled with it. If you are a Mac user and you have Keynote, you do not need to worry about the product key.
AutoCAD for Mac: There is a separate product key for AutoCAD for Mac. The difference with this one is that it’s a stand-alone product and it’s very similar to the regular version of AutoCAD. The product key for AutoCAD for Mac is as follows:
Autodesk AutoCAD 2010-2012, AutoCAD for Mac 2011-2013: This is the key for all versions of AutoCAD for Mac.
