Disk drives have been developed in which a magnetic disk is horizontally mounted, and a transducer head is moved radially inwardly and outwardly to a desired track on the disk. In one conventional disk drive of this type, the magnetic disk is placed in a cylindrical recess in the disk drive, and a head slider which is mounted on a carriage, is disposed on the disk. In operation, the head slider is moved radially inwardly and outwardly to a desired track on the disk by a head positioner which is driven by a suitable drive such as a stepper motor or the like. As the head slider is moved radially inwardly or outwardly, the head slider rides over the surface of the disk with the air in between.
In the above described conventional disk drive, however, since the entire disk surface is used for data storage, the data density is low.Main menu
Mapping the lymphatic system in humans and animals

When cancer spreads in the body, a key task of the immune system is to catch and destroy cancer cells. This is done by lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell that has specialised in recognising invaders and destroying them. However, if the immune system gets confused or overburdened, cancer cells can survive and escape. One way of avoiding this is to get rid of the lymphocytes that attack the invaders.
The lymphatic system is the part of the circulatory system that drains the lymphocytes from the bloodstream and brings them to the nearest lymph node, which will then transport the lymphocytes to the spleen and the liver to be destroyed. A clear view of the lymphatic system has been challenging for many years because they are hard to see and we have only known about them for the past hundred years.
It took us two decades to develop new imaging techniques that make it possible to image the ac619d1d87
